Laura grew up in the military, visiting castles in England, pig fests in Germany, and the historic sites of America's east coast. She earned a bachelor's degree in music, and master's degree in education, and worked for many years as a freelance musician, private music instructor, and school band director.

She currently lives in Minnesota with the youngest five of her nine children, and an assorted menagerie, including an Irish Wolfhound.

Fun Facts about Laura Vosika:

Oh, boy, I can't think of a single funny thing!

How about funny and merely fun facts:
  1.  I was kicked out of organ lessons--which I hated--in second grade as 'the most uncooperative student I've had in 25 years.'  But now I teach private music lessons.  (On piano, harp, and winds.)  How's that for irony?
  2. Actually, for a very law-abiding, non-rebel, writer and musician, I've also, ironically, been kicked out of eleventh grade English (they found out I was a tenth grader), and another youth orchestra. (I was in two, who had concerts on the same day, and I chose to play with the one who wouldn't kick me out for missing a concert, but really needed me, vs the one who had all the parts covered anyway.  I finished one concert, raced across Minneapolis in my concert black to try to make the other, and walked backstage as my group came off stage.  I didn't feel too bad,
  3. I was once an unfortunate (though relatively innocent) part of my friend and fellow trombonist getting a crayon stuck in his mouthpiece just before our big entrance in an orchestral piece.  It was a rehearsal, thank goodness (one that ground to a stop as the entire brass section burst into hysterical laughter, watching him desperately try to play anyway and pretend all was fine), it provoked the not-uncommonly heard words from our poor director: "What now, trombones, what now?" and I blame it entirely on the composers who write 500 measure rests for the trombones.
  4. It's a semi-tradition in our home to build a pyramid with all nine of my kids (plus one extra, whoever happens to be available) every Christmas.  As the kids get bigger, we notice that the youngest (up there at the top of the pyramid) is only an inch or so from the ceiling.
  5. I am, with my fiance, in the process of purchasing a 'castle' in Wisconsin that will become a retreat center--for writers, artists, musicians, and for spiritual retreats.  https://www.facebook.com/CastleofDromore

BLURB: (FROM BOOK 1; BLUE BELLS OF SCOTLAND)

Shawn Kleiner has it all: money, fame, a skyrocketing career as an international musical phenomenon, his beautiful girlfriend Amy, and all the women he wants--until the night Amy has enough and leaves him stranded in a Scottish castle tower.

He wakes up to find himself mistaken for Niall Campbell, medieval Highland warrior. Soon after, he is sent shimmying down a wind-torn castle wall into a dangerous cross country trek with Niall's tempting, but knife-wielding fiancee. They are pursued by English soldiers and a Scottish traitor who want Niall dead.

Thrown forward in time, Niall learns history’s horrifying account of his own death, and of the Scots’ slaughter at Bannockburn. Undaunted, he navigates the roiled waters of Shawn’s life-- pregnant girlfriend, amorous fans, enemies, and gambling debts--seeking a way to leap back across time to save his people, especially his beloved Allene. His growing fondness for Shawn’s life brings him face to face with his own weakness.
