A small gasp fell from my lips as his
fingers kissed the paper-thin skin. His eyes held me hostage. The golden brown
was now a swirling bronze, raging with the same demanding hunger I knew
reflected in mine.
“This sort of reminds me of the forest,”
I whispered. “The trees around us—no one else.” My words fell like petals,
waiting for Jethro to crush them beneath his glossy shoe.
But…he didn’t.
Tracing one hand from my wrist, along the
inside of my arm, and right to my throat, he fisted my ponytail. With intensity
that stripped my soul to the very essence of who I was, he pulled my head back

I loved that this story picked up right where the first left off.
Nila Weaver is a prisoner at the Hawk Estate. But as promised Jethro is giving her the opportunity to run and possibly be free if she makes it to the finish line. What she doesn't know is that he will do everything possible for her to fail, And finally give into becoming his prisoner.
Nila will not break she refuses to accept that this will be her life until the time of her death comes.
Nila remains strong through her initiation. That is until Jethro steps in she has her moment of weakness and she completely shatters.
Nila and Jethro continue battling the attraction and pull they feel towards each other. But it is no use it just continues to grow. Therefore complicating things more for them.
Jethro tried to remain u affected but seeing how Nila accepted and repaid her first debt was the what finally broke him.
Playing this power and mind games with Nila was making him feel more and more everytime and he couldn't denie how much he wanted to claim her. Or how much he hated seeing his brother Kestrel bonding with her.

I found myself consumed by this story and her writing. I haven't felt so captivate by what I was reading in along time. I found myself completely submerged in Nila and Jethro's story... the history... their actions and interactions.
No doubt Pepper Winters know how to do dark, and angst with and eloquence that I haven't seen anywhere else. While her stories are dark they also have a beauty to them you can't help but fall in love with!
I highly recommend this series to everyone who is ready for a story that will have them desperately wanting more!
