WITHOUT HESITATION; CJ Azevedo BLOG TOUR

BT BannerSynopsisAt eleven years old, Macie James was certain she saw her prince standing in her kitchen with his rosy cheeks and cute smile. She was going to marry that boy, she had no doubt about it. As she became a teenager, it was that boy who taught her how to become a confident and sure woman. As the years went by and they grew up, he taWithout Hesitation-Cj Azevedo_ebooksmught her how to love and to be loved.

Greyden Michaels was surprised when he fell for his best friend’s little sister. He wasn’t opposed to it and, even more surprising, neither was his best friend. When he was in college and her just in high school, he realized they were too young to be committed, he opted for friendship with her and together they decided their love was for the future.

When you hesitate, life happens. When life happens, your plans change. Macie wanted her fairy tale and Greyden was prepared to give it to her when unfortunate events changed his whole life, including his future with the UFC and, most devastatingly, with her. Macie made the decision to live her life, to move on without Greyden, especially once she met the man who wanted to marry her and give her the life he couldn’t.

The problem with that was that Greyden had always seen her as his. Could he give her up completely for her supposed happiness or could he somehow manage to get his life in order to try and win her back, heart and soul?b0e78-addtogoodreadsPurchase6732d-amazon2Excerpt“I can’t make you mine right now, Macie.” He sounded dejected.

“I know,” she whispered across his lips, this time pressing her mouth against his.

“I don’t trust WOHteaseranybody else with you,” he said as she deepened the kiss a little more, but he wasn’t letting her fully in.

She licked his top lip and a small groan came out against his wishes. “I know, Sugar Plum.” She kissed just his bottom lip; being the only participant in the kiss was becoming challenging.

Greyden laughed. “Noooo.” He gripped her face, stopping her ministrations. She scrunched up her nose at him. “Macie, remember our plans?”

She nodded. How could she forget? They had a future together, just not a present.

He tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear. “I promise to keep my mouth shut if you want to date, if you promise to date guys your own age and to be smart.”

Macie’s shoulders sagged in disappointment. That’s not where she was hoping he was going to go with that. “Grey, I don’t—”

“Butterfly,” he slides a finger to her lips effectively shushing her, “I wish I could be that guy for you right now, but I can’t. I know that 10385055_10204347092657066_1361019131_nothers can’t either, but apparently you’re going to have to figure that one out on your own. That’s why I ask that you wait ‘til you’re eighteen for the major stuff. Because, Butterfly…God. Macie James, you’re not the girl guys screw around with. You’re the girl guys marry. You’re the girl I’m going to marry.”

Macie gasped in complete shock at his words. Stunned speechless. What does one say to that anyway?

Thankfully, she didn’t have to think too long. Greyden slid off the truck, coming in close contact along her body, not letting her back up. He leaned down, his lips hovering over hers momentarily, just barely brushing them before pressing the sweetest kiss to her hyper aware lips. His lips were soft and warm and Macie wanted to pull him even closer than he already was and open up to him, but that’s not the kind of kiss he was giving her. No, he was giving her a kiss of a promise, a promise of a future, of a friendship and of a love that will only bloom with time, that’s what this kiss was. It was kind of heartbreaking on her end. It may be what he wanted and needed right now, but he just told her he was going to marry her, yet she couldn’t really kiss him, or have him.

Live and Love

TIMELESS LOVE 3

The past few months have been pretty interesting. In early January I got a call at work from my mother-in-law.  She called my work line not my cell which threw me off a bit. She sounded off and I knew she had a doctors appointment that morning.  She called and said, "its nothing to worry about, just a cyst and I will see more doctors and when I know more I will let you know." I got a bit quiet and had to ask why more doctors. She said, "oh just to get a second opinion." Then she changed the subject so fast I got whiplash. Said she was taking me to see Cher as an early birthday gift. Then asked if I would tell my  husband the news she gave me. Didn't feel it was my place since I felt something was off. So, I had hubby call her.

Fast forward to July 4th.  She has been attending every family function and has been in good spirits. Her CYST is shrinking and all is good. Huh, shrinking cyst and radiation for the past few months and now the date of a surgery was given. Well, ok, but nothing serious... hmmm.  That day I had a very special bonding moment with my father-in-law. He showed me a collage the my mother-in-law was working on. It was pictures of the two of them over the 30 years that they have known each other. From their dating days to the wedding and now.  The way he told me about the pictures and the look on his face was priceless. He loves my MIL so much and just kept telling me story after story.  I have been a part of this family for almost 21 years and I listened to his story as if I hadn't heard some of it.

He showed me pics from recent trips they took. Most pictures he took of her while she wasn't looking. I thought, he truly loves and adores her. How many men take pics of their wife of 30 plus years and talks about her like she is the most beautiful creature on earth?

Heck, I was jealous! I told hubby, hey if he raised you why aren't you that smitten with me. He said he's not a picture person but promised to have more pics taken of us, and that he was smitten.

Well, let me just get to now.  Monday, was surgery date. Monday, the cat was let out of the bag. Monday, was one of the hardest days I had to endure.  My mother-in-law had colon cancer. Her "CYST" was actually a malignant tumor. She had that and part of her colon removed. To say the blow wasn't hard would be a lie, even though our suspicions were there.

I made it to the hospital on Wednesday, my father-in-law greeted us at the elevators and my heart broke. He was a man in pain. His partner was in pain and he couldn't do a thing about it. He was so worried and stressed my heart broke for him. Walking in and seeing my mom-in-law had me fighting tears. We got to talk and visit. The battle will be long but with the love of her life by her side, I am sure it will be a bit more bearable.

To see couples like this gives me hope. Hope that men that are strong and love their wives still exist. Not all men treat woman as if they were disposable. True love is hard to find but when you find it, you just know. Sometime words aren't needed. Just a hug or a touch can speak volumes.

We have so much to learn from older couples. Life isn't easy, she's a cruel bitch at times but will we just give up and walk away when the going gets tough?  Let's hope that we can all learn from those couples that are still together regardless of what life has handed them.

OUT OF LINE BOX SET; Jen McLaughlin

out of line

OUT OF LINE BOX SET

As a reader I have read book one OUT OF LINE and book two OUT OF TIME, I have yet to get to book three, OUT OF MIND but am itching to get to it. I fell in love with the story of Carrie and Finn. Carrie is the daughter of a high profile politician. All she wants is to go to college and blend in with her peers. She doesn't want to use her family name to call attention to herself. She just wants to be a normal girl.

Daddy dearest has a different idea. Yes, she can go off to school and try to blend and not be recognized but the doesn't mean she's going across the country alone. Enter, our hot surfer boy that rides a badass motorcycle. The chemistry is amazing and they hit it off. The bad thing is; Finn has a secret that he can't tell Carrie about. He can loose the girl he just met if he comes clean with her and he can loose his job if his true feelings for Carrie are revealed. What will Finn do?

OUT OF LINE - EXCERPT:

I swallowed the guilt choking me back. I knew she was suspicious, and she had every reason to be wary of me. I was a fraud. A phony. A fake. And most of all? An asshole for kissing her under false pretenses. “Why are you so damn suspicious of everyone and everything?”

She didn’t follow me, but put her hands on her perfect hips. “I don’t know.”

“Why are you glowering at me like I drowned your kitten in front of you?”

“Because I thought we were friends.”

“We are.”

She lifted her chin up. “Friends don’t kiss friends then say shit. You

obviously don’t like me very much, so I’m going to make this easy for you. I’m leaving—and you’re staying.”

“No, you’re not.” I rubbed my eyes. Unbelievable. Instead of fixing this screw up, I’d managed to make it worse. “I’m your ride.”

She pulled out her phone and put it to her ear. “Yes. I’d like a cab, please. It’s an apartment building. Brick with patios and balconies. I’ll be outside.” She rattled off my address, an address I didn’t even know she’d be able to figure out, and then slid the phone back in her purse. “Problem solved. Now go away.”

She sat down on the curb, her back to me, and promptly ignored me. I hesitated. Should I do what she wanted and go inside to come up with a plan? Or should I try to fix this now? The urge to bang my head against the wall was almost as strong as the urge to pull her into my arms was. She looked so alone sitting there and staring out in the road. I approached her slowly, uncertain how to tackle this.

“Look, I’m sorry.” I sat beside her, my leg touching hers. She shot me a dirty look, but didn’t move away. “I didn’t mean to kiss you. Not because I don’t want to, but because I just want to be friends.”

“Then why did you kiss me?”

“Because I couldn’t stop myself,” I admitted. It was one of the most honest things I had said to her all day. “But I should have.”

She finally looked at me again. “Why can’t you kiss me? What’s so wrong with it? I mean, if you want to, why is it bad?”

Good question. “It just is. In my career, I could be gone at any second if they call up my unit. I can’t have relationships.”

“That’s bull.” Her hands tightened on her knees. “If you don’t want to be with me, just say it. Don’t give me half-assed reasons why you can’t.”

“I don’t want to be with you,” I said, my voice coming out harsher than I intended. I reached out and closed my hand over hers, trying to soften the blow. “Not in that way, but I do want to be friends.”

“I’ll think about it.” The cab pulled up and she stood. Her hand on the door, she glanced at me over her shoulder. “But if you want to be friends, keep your lips off mine from now on.”

“Deal. Still want to surf?”

She hesitated. “Not today. I have a headache. See ya some other time.” And with that, she closed the door in my face and left me standing

on the curb. My phone buzzed, and I pulled it out. Her father, of course. The man had impeccable timing.

Things going well?

I tightened my grip on the phone and typed fast. I got it covered.

Good. Don’t forget the rules.

The ones I’d already broken?

As if I could.

Calling California: J.P. Grider

image

CALLING CALIFORNIA

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!

☆☆☆☆

A Gameboy started it all. Yes...a GAMEBOY.

In this story we meet Calista, aka Cali and Griffin.

Cali's mom works as a waitress and one Christmas Eve when Cali was a little girl, she had to accompany her mom to work. They were at a house so big that Cali said it was bigger than her school. While her mom worked Cali sat quietly in a corner playing with her Gameboy.

A little boy enters the kitchen grabs a cookie and notices her. He falls in love with her CLASSIC Gameboy. He wants to trade his shiny new one for her  CLASSIC one. But...he ends up giving her his shiny new one and never expected her to give hers up.

Fast Forward 13 years and on her first day of college Cali sees a hottie. She's captivated by him. Sadly, he doesn't notice her. While at work Cali gets a customer who doesn't have enough to cover a $23 check. This customer, Griffin is completely taken by the beautiful woman before him.

Next day in class Griffin walks in notices Cali and instant friendship with sparks. He starts calling her California.

Cali thinks that Griffin is as poor as her. But is he?

Cali has a huge problem with money and the people with it. Her family has been burned by the rich and she has developed a complex.

Griffin is absolutely head over heels for our Cali. He finally comes clean and lets her in on the fact he's from money.  She eventually comes to terms with his wealth.

But..this story takes a crazy turn. Oh Em Gee... the plot thickens and we need to know the outcome!

With this new revelation how will Cali react? What will happen to her relationship with Griffin?
She's already having doubts,  she doesn't feel like she belongs in his elite world.  But, then he does these adorable things and says all the right things. Dammit...he has never been been part of WE and he wants to be a WE with ME!!!

Sadly, there is a huge secret and the revelation will either make them stronger or break them.

True love knows no economical class. Poor or rich, the heart wants what the heart wants.  Love has no boundaries and at times we must give in to it. We can't over think everything in life. We have to let the walls crumble some and allow someone in. This person can help us grow and find what we were missing. Prejudice is an ugly thing and it can stop us from truly finding what we want and need.

I want more of our beautiful couple.  Cali and Griffin belong together and J.P. Grider delivers a beautiful story of a girl with trust issues and a boy who has everything money can buy except the girl that he has loved forever.

I highly recommend this book.

Without Hesitation...

FIVE STARS!!!! ☆☆☆☆☆
In this installment we get story of GREYDEN AND MACIE.

From the very beginning of the book you see the connection between the two of them. Grey has a mad crush on our girl Macie. Problem...Macie is his best friends only sister and three years younger than him. Macie, has been crushing on Grey since she was 11!

On Macie's 14th birthday, Grey notices that Macie is acting a bit shy and is not wearing the typical two piece bathing suit her friends are. No boys are approaching her and he sets out to start a new tradition with his first love.
You will see that tradition transpire through the book.

The night of her party he makes sure to give her a gift he picked out specially for her, a beautiful locket. She also gets her first kiss....swoon for a 14 year old who gets her kiss from her first love.  That night Grey also gets a first... this first surprises him and hence her nickname was born.

The relationship between Grey and Macie grows throughout the years. I love what CJ Azevedo did in telling the story. We got to see our two characters grow over the period of about 11 years.

In that time period Grey was an important part of Macie's life. They had plans, they dreamed, they shared they became each others best friends. Sadly, life, real life got in the way. The hopes and dreams we have can easily be deterred and what we wish may not materialize how we expected.

Macie had a life plan. Our girl has a timeline it seems and she has goals. These goals need to be accomplished.  In her planning she lost faith and patience.  She makes a very poor choice and it will comeback to bite her.

But..she has also build a stable foundation with Grey. But how stable is it? This will be tested.

Never rush destiny. What is written in the stars will happen. Have faith and all will be fulfilled. When we don't leave room for the unexpected we will get sucked in to what we think we want not on what is meant to be.

CJ Azevedo had me falling in love with Grey even in his weakest moments. But thats ok. Patience is a virtue and true love is always meant to be.

My new 1-click author.

A Beautiful Thought; Alicia Rae

COVER

A Beautiful Thought Synopsis:

As a physical sports therapist, Gail Bennett is accustomed to working with gorgeous athletes every day, but after falling for a few of these attractive men, she has been left heartbroken one too many times. When Gail’s hours at work are unexpectedly cut, she must find a way to continue helping her parents pay for her sister’s education. Reluctantly following her best friend’s advice, Gail takes on a roommate—with the one man she has been avoiding since the first time she laid eyes on him.

Damon Johnson loves a challenge, and he is not the type of man to back down when he wants something. From the first moment he meets Gail for dinner, he feels an inexplicable pull between the two of them. In his determination to have her, he finds himself helping her in any way he can.

Can Damon break through all the barriers Gail has so carefully placed around her heart and prove that he’s different? Or will Gail’s reservations keep her from falling in love?

One thought could change everything.

A Beautiful Thought Review:

Gail and Damon have a beautiful love story.

Gail is fighting her attraction to him and feel that letting him move in may be a huge mistake. But, she needs the help, financially. Admitting that she needs help is huge for her. She carries the weight of the world on her shoulders and dammit she is an independent woman who doesn't ask for help.

Enter our hottie Damon Johnson. He doesn't know if he wants to stay in California which is why he feels having a roommate is ideal and this way its easier for him to move.  He is helping his brother and his cousin's husband build their business. He has ties to Colorado and his dream job is in all the way across the country. He needs to keep his options open, he is young, intelligent and free.

Eventually, the lines blurred and things get hot and heavy between the two. We get hot sex and an amazing relationship. But, when they don't share things that are happening in their personal lives then things get a bit difficult. They need to trust each other enough to share everything even if its the things that can break them apart.

The bonus in this book was the mention of autism. I am a sucker for books that mention real life struggles. This was an awesome read and I highly recommend it.

5 stars for this book and I can't wait for the next installment.

Anchor Line by Dawne Walters

GOODNESS. HOTTEST ALPHA MALE I HAVE MET IN A VERY LONG TIME!!!!

image

SSG Conrad Renner is a man that knows what he wants and knows how to get what he wants. He stays away from commitment, he doesn't need it. He's happy with the way his life is, plus in his line of work no need to have a wife who will most likely become a war bride. This man is a Dom at a local BDSM club and there is no shortage of candidates that want to play with him. The perfect Bachelor life right?

Addie Marshall, oh Addie. She goes to work on base every day does her job has her friends and goes home to an empty apartment at night.  She happens to be the one that helps SSG Renner at the personnel office. So, when he comes in one day to have his records updated, he asks her out for lunch. He is VERY INSISTENT. She agrees and before the week is over he manages to take her to lunch a few more times.

These two have MAJOR chemistry together. But, with his lifestyle there is no shortage of females approaching him for a fun time.  Addie, is one strong willed woman. She is not sticking around to see other women come up to throw themselves at him.Especially when they are hanging out together, yes, we don't put labels on this. Something has to change. Does he want just her or does he want to continue life as he knows it.

This story is not for the weak of heart. There are some strong sexual scenes that are HOT!!! This book takes us on an adventure we won't soon forget. The way this man shows us what we do to him is something that will forever stick out in our minds.  We fall in love, we get hurt, we physically hurt the man that hurts us. We grow as individuals, we stand our ground. If you want something bad enough don't play games. Be honest and true to yourself and to the other person. Fight for what you want and never be afraid to tell each other how you feel. Time is wasted when games are played.

Dawne Walters' writing style is easy to follow. She tells a good story and keeps the audience engaged. Highly recommended. Can't wait for more work from Dawne.

FYI: KEEP YOUR EYES OUT FOR MR. PRINGLES

Dawne Walters, Author - Q & A...

 10470938_10152093591600796_4057600280194113369_n

Dawne Walters, Author

This Q & A had and still has me nervous. The very first of what I am hoping turn into many Author Q & A's.  Dawne caught my attention and with her latest book, Anchor Line, I couldn't resist. Both her book covers I absolutely fell in love with.

I am currently, in the middle of getting to know SSG Conrad Renner, to say this book is HOT is an understatement. I have fallen in love with Dawne's writing style. I can imagine her telling the story as I read. Love when I pick up a book and can totally see them telling me about the book.

Dawne, thanks for letting me pick your brain for a bit. I absolutely love going back and forth with you on Facebook, don't forget we have a venture to start thanks to your amazing one and only  CONRAD RENNER. Much continued success. Hugs mujer, your familia loves you.

RB: How long have you been in the Military? Can you share a bit of what you do for the Army? Places you have been too?

DW: I was in the Army just under ten years. I was a flight medic while deployed, but at home, we didn’t have that mission, so I worked in the Aviation Med Clinic. I did deploy to Iraq, I also did a 30 day stint in the Bahamas when we had the Drug Interdiction Mission to help out there. It wasn’t all beaches and sunbathing. Most of the time, it was radio watch. Other than Basic Training in Fort Leonard Wood, MO, then on to Fort Sam Houston, Tx, and Fort Rucker, AL for schools, I stayed put at Hunter Army Air Field, in Savannah, GA.

RB: Did you grow up in a military family? What was that like?

DW: I did grow up in a military family! IT. WAS. AWESOME. I got to see so much of Europe and live there. The lifestyle in Europe and the UK is so much more laid back than in the States. I loved the castles and the fantasy of it all. Growing up in Europe was like a loooong vacation. Everyone, just once, should go visit Europe and the UK.

RB: At what point in your military career did you decide to write?

DW: I started writing when I was deployed. I had a few journals with me, and at first it was things we’d done, day to day stuff, capturing the emotion of flying into Iraq. All kinds of things. And then I just needed that escape...so I started to write short stories...and yes, some of those will make it into novels, but not all of them will be happily ever afters.

RB: I noticed on your profile it says you have a journalism degree, why did you pick that major?

DW: I think my love for reading and writing propelled me to that field. While in school, I wrote for an Internet based Hockey Magazine, ‘In The Crease’. I wrote about the hometown Minor League New Mexico Scorpions. I loved it.

RB: What was your favorite book as a child? As an adult?

DW:  I was an eclectic reader. Still am...but as a child, The Wonderful Adventure of Nils by Swedish author Selma Lagerhof. Then you have Beezus and Ramona by Beverly Cleary and the Judy Blume books. I also enjoyed the Hardy Boys much more than Nancy Drew because they were more adventurous. As an adult, I got into Autobiographies. Maureen O’Hara, Audry Hepburn, John Wayne, Ronald Reagan, Laura Bush. Then I like the Tom Clancy Novels and The Greatest Generation by Tom Brokaw (incidentally, I read The Greatest Generation while deployed to Iraq).

RB: What inspired you to write romance?

DW: That’s a great question. I tried my hand at mysteries and suspense. I have no patience for it. I’ve always wanted a happily ever after, so when I looked back at a lot of my journals and read the short stories, they all in some way shape or form were happy. SO, you throw in a little drama in the form of real life and some hey how are ya’s, great sex and...BOOM!

RB: Who are/were your influences?

DW: There are soooo many women that come to mind. Authors, Felicia Lynn, MJ Carnal, S K Hartley, Liz King. They’d all published books by themselves. I was like, if they can...so can I. But in this decision, it was really my sister from another mister, Debbie White who really ENCOURAGED me to get writing and find out if this was something I could do. After bugging Felicia to death about where do I go for this and that and she was so incredibly patient...Viola...here I am.

RB: Any recent new favorite books you have by any of the authors you know? So, MJ’s whole series The Moretti Novels, Sophie Hartley’s The Bad Boy Series, then Sophie Monroe’s novels, and Ker Dukey, Harper Sloan...the list goes on and on.

DW: How does your family feel about you writing and publishing romance novels? I’d say that the majority is pretty excited. My dad just picked up my first book Wait for Me...not sure how I feel about that yet! Nothing like having your family download your book and then search all the naughty words and report back to you on how many times you used (insert word here). My brother doesn’t approve and I’m okay with that. You can’t please everyone.

RB: If you could go back in time and met one author who would it be and what would you say?

DW: Jane Austen. What would I say...I think I’d be tongue tied and look like a fish out of water. But, I’d ask her what her drive was when she was writing. Sense and Sensibility was like a woven tapestry. But by far my favourite was Pride and Prejudice. LOVED it and I guess I’d ask her if there was more to the story.

RB: Author events.  What was it like to attend your first one?

DW: My first event was hosted by Heather Gunter who did a really bang up job! Great first event! Frankie Guerra was with me and we had an absolute blast! It was awesome to have people come up to you knowing that you only have the one book out and say ‘I loved it’ or ‘I hate cliff hangers but your book was great.’ To be in an event with other authors was amazing. You truly are in some AWESOME company.

RB: How many do you have coming up and where?

RB: I always here… Write what you know. I see you did that with Anchor Line. It has a military story line. What or who inspired this book?

DW: What inspired me....those men and women who volunteer to jump out of (almost) perfectly good airplanes. I certainly couldn’t do it! I love to watch the chutes come down. It’s amazing.

RB:  How did it feel when you finally typed “THE END” on Anchor Line?

DW: Actually, I was frustrated. I knew how it was going to end. But there was sooooooo much more that I didn’t put in there because it was going to be a HUGE book to print. But there comes a time when you have to say enough! But I might do a novella next year.

RB: Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?

DW: WRITE! You can’t start a book if you don’t write. Women love romance.

RB: What would the perfect date be like for you?

DW: A perfect date for me...I’m a bit of a tomboy...so, a hockey game or Steelers football. NO fancy dinners. Going to shoot pool or throw darts over a few beers, a burger and fries.

RB: Oooohhh … I must ask, Favorite Book Boyfriend and why?

DW:  This is a really tough one. GOSH! I don’t have a favorite ONE...but Kevin Merck from Taming Casanova by MJ Carnal is standing out. He’s a little cocky but down underneath that whole exterior he’s a softy at heart.

RB: Cover models. You have picked some pretty handsome men for your covers. Frankie Guerra and Justin Keeton, how do you go about picking the men that will be on the cover of your books?

Frankie guerra dawne walter

DW: Actually, both were very serendipitous in landing on my covers! With Frankie I was looking for a Hispanic model and I had just posted it on my Facebook, when I saw that one of my friends had ‘liked’ Frankie’s fitness page. I went BONKERS and messaged him. He wrote back that he was interested in being a cover model and that he’d never done that before. Our first phone conversation was over an hour and we realized that we had a lot in common. I used some of Frankie’s favourites like his Vodka-Cran in the book, his car. Little things. But, I can’t say as that I’ve ever seen a Hispanic or Cuban cover model on a book before and I, being a ‘fan of tan’ like to break the mold of the typical cover model. I think most Indie Authors do...going for the tattooed pierced guy or what have you! With Justin, Golden Czermak knew I was looking for a cover model, so he sent me a message and said, this guy is in the National Guard. So I asked Golden if Justin would put on his uniform for it, Justin agreed and BOOM! Another first! So it happened quite backward actually. You usually ask the guy to go on your cover and they agree. This time it went through the photographer. Both young men...AMAZING gentlemen! Very humble, very sweet! I am truly blessed with having some great young men to cover my books.

RB: Justin looks perfect on the cover of Anchor Line, He will soon be every ladies HOT book boyfriend, SSG CONRAD RENNER, He looks perfect on the cover. Wondering what made him standout for this cover?

DW: Every model or Fitness guru has an attraction about them. With Justin, it’s not just the uniform. It’s the hidden confidence in holding open his ACU Shirt.

RB: What is the most frustrating part about being a writer?

DW: Currently, I’m having compatibility issues with my computer and the publishing page. Unfortunately, what I uploaded didn’t come out on the other side correctly. So, I’m fixing it...but in the meantime, you get people who are looking for that perfect edit. Some people are just looking for the story line. Incredibly frustrating when that happens!!! At other times it’s trying to anticipate what your reader wants. You could have the perfect story, edited perfectly, formatted perfectly and the cover perfect...but someone is not going to like it or approve of it. It’s life. It’ll be okay. You aren’t going to get it right 100% of the time. Accept that fact and you’ll be fine. Fix it and go after it again!

RB: Is there anything you would like to share with or tell your fans?

DW: I like to think that I have Familia or readers instead of fans. But, THANK YOU! In all honesty, thank you isn’t enough. I really enjoy the interaction. And sometimes I’m a little slow getting back to you, I apologize, that inconvenient forty hour a week job I do does get in the way. It really is great though. Being an Indie writer, it’s not about money. It’s about sharing a passion for telling a good story.

Chase Ketron; Q & A

Chase Ketron, we saw the Cover Reveal for Slider and just fell in love with it. I don't know about you but I wanted to know more about the man on the cover of book two of a series I just fell in love with . So, here is what our little back and forth conversation went like. FYI; he is an amazing man. Enjoy.
RB: How long have you been an athlete, mainly into the lifting?
CK: Ever since 8th grade I have been bitten by the iron bug, due to lifting for football and track. It became much more a part of my life sophomore year of college after sports.
RB: How long into your sport did you become a fitness model?
CK: I had just signed with Silver Model Management after my first shoot with Golden Czermak (FuriousFotog) back in May of this year. Adam Silver had given me a call and sent me a contract a few weeks after. I still cannot believe I am lucky enough to work with such a well-known agency for fitness models. Definitely a blessing.
RB: Do you participate in any other sports?
CK: Absolutely, I played football for the University of Tennessee my freshman year of college but school was becoming difficult for me so I had to make some more free time for my studies. Since then, I have taken fitness much more seriously and treat it like a job. (A job that I enjoy of course!)
RB: Many of your pics show you wearing red BEATS when you workout, what are you listening to? Any faves?

CK: Ah, all kinds of stuff! And I love my beats! I like to listen to different speeches from Eric Thomas and Les Brown before the gym and throughout my day, and when the time comes to hit the weights, it’s usually a mixture of Rock, Electronic/Dubstep, and rap.
RB: Walk us through a typical day in the life of Chase Ketron?
CK: Always start my days off with cardio, I just feel kinda off if I don’t do it. Then I’ll usually knock out my to-do list I write the night before. After I finish up with errands and work, I’ll go in for a weight training session towards the end of the day. Finally, I’ll come home, make a protein shake and fall asleep to some kind of old school Disney movie. Haha It can get repetitive, but it gets the job done.

RB: In some of your pictures we see a tattoo, 1Corinthians 9:27. That tattoo tells me that you are taking care of the temple that you have been given. I sense a practice what you preach motto. Tells me you’re good Christian. Why did you choose that tattoo and have you gotten any negativity from anyone since you are open about your beliefs?

CK: I chose that particular verse because my strength and conditioning coach from UT football, Bennie Wylie, had stated it before camp and made it a motto to live by throughout camp. Bennie was a very influential person to me, as well as a man of God, and he really showed me what discipline and effort were all about and what it could do for you if you put your heart and soul into something. It became my life motto, and I didn’t want to go a day without seeing it, so I made it permanent. No one has ever had anything negative to say about it, but plenty of positive things!
RB: Family… Oh man, did you have many of us laughing, feeling bad for you and just wanting to help you when you posted about your family not taking you on vacation. I gather that family is a big part of your life, again another beautiful trait. What does your family think of you as a romance book cover model?
CK: They are very proud of me for it, and show nothing but support in what I do. I am definitely very blessed to have such a supportive family, not everyone gets that lucky.
RB: When you were younger, what was your dream job?
CK: My dream job was to become an architect as a kid. I would just draw pictures all the time because I would travel with my dad a lot during his work, and I could never put a pencil down. I always wanted to design something. Unfortunately, I suck at drawing so I am sticking with fitness and business.
RB: What did you aspire to become?
CK: I wanted to grow up and be just like my Papaw Ketron, and my dad, Scott Ketron. They are both retired ministers from the Methodist Church. My papaw has made so many monumental accomplishments in his lifetime as well as writing a book on our family history. He is very proud of his family, and has been married to the same woman for over 50 years and still to this day tells everyone how she’s still the most beautiful woman in Sullivan County. My dad, Scott Ketron, has always encouraged me to do anything I set my mind to, didn’t matter what it was. At a very young age, my dad taught me the value of my last name and how I represent my family every day my feet hit the ground from waking. He has provided opportunities for me even when he didn’t have the money to do it. His family is his pride and joy, and he certainly passed that same mindset down to me.
When I read this I cried. Yup, I am one emotional creature and when a man pays homage to his family like this, it is a beautiful thing.
As a mom I just thought; pride, love and devotion.

RB: Many of your fans know you because you are on the cover of SLIDER by Stacy Borel. This is the second book in her CORE Four series. What was it like when you got word that you made the cover, how did you feel, what did you think?
CK: Well, Golden had mentioned to me a few weeks before our first shoot, an author was interested in having me as the cover model for their next book. The first thought I had was how could someone be interested in using me, Golden has so many different models that he works with that have ridiculous aesthetics and good looks. Luckily, Stacy Borel was crazy enough to pick me (love you Stacy) and the feeling was absolutely surreal! Had a smile on my face that entire week, as well as a little pep in my step. I couldn’t be more thankful for Stacy and Golden for that awesome opportunity.
RB: Who was the first person you called when you saw the actual cover?
CK: The first person I had called was my all-time best friend and girlfriend, Alison Hughes. She’s always the first person to hear any news I have. I was literally in tears because I never thought someone like me would ever get the chance to do something so unheard of and remarkable, and I knew my family, as well as Alison, would be just as happy for me as I was about the whole experience.
RB: So, in book boyfriend world you play a Doctor. A very hot Doctor, what are your thoughts on the character many readers will associate with you? With the knowledge you have of Turner Brooks, would you say there are any similarities?
CK: Absolutely, I couldn’t imagine not living a passionate life like Turner, because I feel like if you don’t do what you’re passionate about you’ll never even scrape the surface of your full potential. Also like Turner, I am very protective of what’s mine. My family is everything. If I tell you the words “I love you”, you’re family and I’d put my life down for you, period.
RB: What are your thoughts of the ROMANCE BOOK WORLD?
CK: Honestly, I’m just becoming acquainted with it, so I’m still learning. From what I’ve noticed so far though, Stacy Borel is the s*** and people are all about their romance novels. Also, everyone is so nice and supportive that I’ve had the pleasure of working or talking with that is affiliated with it.
RB: Has your life changed since the cover reveal?
CK: Well due to the amount of influential people I’ve gotten to speak with after the reveal, for sure! It amazes me at how supportive people can be that I have never even met, but they definitely make a positive difference in my life. It’s so fulfilling knowing I do the same for them.
RB: How did it feel to be an #mcm?
CK: It’s very surprising when I see a photo of myself pop up and think “I don’t remember uploading this”, and then notice it’s an #mcm. haha Never fails to put a smile on my face though, and I am very flattered by it.
RB: The female attention, you must tell us how that feels?
CK: Well, I’m definitely not used to it. haha It’s funny though, because I’m kinda awkward and very shy around women. You’d never think that’d be the case though since I come from a family dominated by women.
RB: With your image on almost every romance book blog on cover reveal day, you my friend have had ladies give their very honest opinion of your good looks. Share what goes through your mind when you see a comment left on a picture?
CK: Well just like my friend Shawn Dawson had said before, I literally get red in the face sometimes. Some of the comments I have read before have also put me in tears from laughter from how witty and funny they were! Haha But I always appreciate the love and support.
RB: Are you getting yourself ready to meet the fans?
CK: I am very excited about meeting the fans of Turner Brooks! I can’t express how thrilled I was when I found out from Stacy that she wanted me to be the image for Turner. It was definitely a surreal moment.
RB: We gotta know how romantic is Chase, what would the perfect day out be like for you with a special lady?

CK: Well, I’d have to do my research first and find out what makes that makes that special lady smile, and then try my best to tailor the day to just that. If she’s smiling, I’m smiling.
His girlfriend is one lucky lady, hugs to both of you.
I need to take this time to say THANK YOU Chase. You are an amazing and sweet man and will go far with the attitude, discipline and determination you have. I wish you only the best always. I am in awe of the answers you gave. You let us in and I appreciate that. Have fun and ride the wave. Us fans can get pretty crazy, be patient with us and know that we adore you.

Shawn Dawson: Q & A

Image

Many of us have seen him, have appreciated the good looks and of course the fit body. If you read Bender by Stacy Borel then you are more than familiar with him. This man is one of the most amazing people I have been fortunate to get to know. He deserves every bit of attention he is getting and all the respect and admiration.  The one and only Shawn Dawson.

Many of us follow him on Facebook and can see how committed he is to his profession. He is a dedicated trainer and a professional model. His face will soon appear on two more book covers. One of the covers was just released this week and boy is it gorgeous.

I honestly never thought I would have the opportunity to communicate with someone like him. But, here I am. I could of asked him a million questions, heck who wouldn't? Here's how this Q & A turned out.

RB: -How did you get into fitness world? Online coaching? Personal training?

SD: How I got into the "fitness world" is really by the fact I've always wanted to challenge myself in new ways, I've always done sports, my whole life. The next challenge was full out body changes. I've been a personal trainer since I was 19 years old got certified and just fell in love with the connections I made with my clients.

RB: How long have you been doing the personal training,  fitness coaching?

SD: Personal training 3 years, online training just started recently and in love with it already. I just decided that once I became busy; to do online training and as of right now I love it. Listening to clients stories on why they want to do it motivates me.

RB: What is your motivation to stay on the healthy path?

SD: Honestly, the biggest motivation to me is when someone randomly goes out of their way to tell me how I've helped or inspired them or keep them going.

RB: Do you listen to music while at the gym? If so what do you listen to?

SD: Of course I listen to music when at the gym. I tend to listen to stuff that has meaning behind the lyrics, because the lyrics can hit home sometimes and set something off inside me mentally. Some of the main names that are at the top of my playlist are; A Day To Remember, All That Remains, Woe Is Me, Memphis May Fire, Asking Alexandria, and Issues.

I swear, I was waiting to hear him say Celine Dion.

RB: Any advice for up and coming fitness models?

SD: My advice for upcoming models would have to be stay true to you. Don't try to be someone you're not because people will see through your act eventually and it'll only bite you in the ass.

RB:  You have mention and posted pics of your love for football. How does football fit into your life now?

SD: I've literally played football my entire life, ever since I was 10 years old, about 13 years now. It was the one sport that sparked my interest the one I gave my all to.

RB: What football team are you a fan of?

SD: I root for my Chicago bears.

Of, course he does. Why am I not surprised. Da Bears!

RB: Besides football what other sports do you or have you participated in?

SD: I've participated in a lot of sports. Football, Basketball, Track, Volleyball, Wrestling, and Cage Fighting.

RB: How did the modeling begin?

SD: Modeling began when I finally answered back to the modeling agency that was trying to bring me on ever since I was 18, took me about 3 years to finally say yes. It was something new and decided why not.

RB: How old were you and what did a manly ass man like you think of modeling?

SD:I started when I was 21 only been doing this for almost a year (July 23rd) I was so nervous honestly LOL.

Exciting we all get to celebrate this milestone with him. We must show him mad love that day. He took a chance a year ago and look at what happened!

Image

RB: What where your thoughts/feelings when you landed the cover of BENDER?

SD: Ah,the thoughts of me even being considered for a cover I was in shock. I was so happy. So from that point on I decided whatever opportunity that came my way I'd give it my all. So much excitement when I had the paperback in my hand I honestly kinda called Stacy crying.

All I can picture right here is a very happy, overwhelmed and emotional man. Tell me that isn’t precious.

RB: Any similarities between Camden and Shawn?

SD: There are so many similarities, Camden's attitude is exactly like mine, I don't let people in until they break down the wall I have up to protect myself. I love being in control.

Many of us fell in LOVE with Camden. Imagine there is an actual almost Camden out there. Holy shit, where are his brothers? *sigh* a girl can dream. A book boyfriend come to life.

RB: How has life changed since BENDER?

SD: Bender has changed my life because I get the opportunity to travel and meet so many people in a different aspect than fitness. It's just something cool that I never expected.

RB: What are your family’s thoughts of seeing you on the cover of a book?

SD: My family is supportive of everything I do especially my mom. She's saved absolutely everything I've been on magazines, pictures, websites, but their response was. "It's all starting to pay off".

This part was amazing to me. A strong man loved and supported by his family. That helps a person keep going, to give their all and yes, all his hard work is paying off. Hard work does pay off and that payoff keeps us motivated.

We fans can get crazy and wild. We adore you, you are so adorable (not just a pretty face) the whole package.

RB: How does all the female attention make you feel?

SD: Honestly I'm kind of at loss for words because I don't even think that highly of myself, of course I have confidence but it does mean a lot to see all the comments and such. I try to read them all, half the time I hide behind my hands and blush.

The very first thing I noticed about Shawn was his humility. This man is just one of the most humble people I have come across. He’s genuine. What you see is what you get.

Image

RB: Author events are coming any idea what to expect?

SD: Hmm I've been warned that they're crazy. That whatever I am expecting, to expect it to be crazier

This answer made me laugh. Ladies that will be at his first event, be kind. Don’t scare him away. Hahaha. Break him in slowly.

RB: Have you experienced any crazy fans yet?

SD: Yes, but more from the fitness aspect.

Well, I think he may soon experience a crazy fan from the book world. Hope it is not too traumatic. I just picture someone jumping on him and wrapping their legs around that firm body. Ladies, leave the resistance cables at home. Unless, you are on THE MACHINE and are alone in the gym with him.

RB: Thoughts on the wild and crazy world that is Romance Books?

SD: I'm just in awe with how you ladies think of some of this stuff, dirty minds in a good way.

He’s in awe ladies. In awe of our minds, he has no clue that we can unleash the inner freak. We can get pretty wild.

RB: What is the perfect date?

SD: Honestly, I'm a very laid back person, if a girl were to make me a fantastic dinner & we just watch a movie that would blow my mind. Who doesn't mind an Alpha Female to be at the side of an Alpha Male, and no I'm not saying she cook because I won't. But it does show that she has confidence in her cooking to feed her man. Then the fact we can just relax and have a good time with each other catching a movie.

RB: Thoughts on all the fans you have made via social media?

SD: I love the connections I've made via social media, without the support from family, friends, and fans I wouldn't be where I am today. They're supportive of me because I've stayed true to myself from the jump off so I think it's safe to say they're not going anywhere and they all mean so much to me. I try to interact with them as much as possible.

RB: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

SD; I've got no idea, with this industry anything can happen. You've gotta go with what comes your way and all the opportunities not many are blessed with this.

Shawn, from the bottom of my heart I want to THANK YOU for being a good sport and doing this for Romance Bytes. The ladies that LIKE my page just can't get enough of you. I want to wish you luck in all you do, now and in the future. I hope that we can do this again. Love and hugs your way.

BOOK DEBUT!!!

REAL LOVE HELPS HEAL ALL WOUNDS

I was lucky enough to be trusted with this baby.  It took me awhile to get to it. I was a bit backed up with stuff I had deadlines on.  I finally, go to this and I enjoyed the book.  Amanda takes us on a journey that will stay with us.  Jade, is a woman on the run. She's been moving from place to place and is scared to be found. She's running from the man she thought loved her. Well, its obvious he doesn't.

Jade meets Wade and oh man... it is just an instant connection. Wade pulls out all the stops to try and impress Jade. Jade is too afraid to become attach, she can't stay in one place too long. She can't let Wade in. She doesn't need a knight in shining armor, or does she?

Wade is a widower and hasn't been in a relationship since his wife died, four years ago. He's a grown man and dammit, he knows what he wants and what he wants is JADE.  He has his work cut out for him and he doesn't give up easy. Wade proves to be the man for her and shows Jade that she is worthy of true love.

Domestic partner abuse has been something many deal with. Many victims never get out, some only dream of it, Jade found her escape physically. You will see how the victim never really leaves the aggressor. I loved how Amanda, brought attention to a very taboo topic in our society.

Excerpt

Chapter 2
Then

“I don’t think I can go,” I tell my mom, looking directly at her, wanting nothing more than for her to meet my gaze. She won’t—I already know that—because looking at me would mean facing the inevitable.
Lily’s gone for good.
Mom drums her French-manicured fingernails on the thatched placemat, the beat uneven and rushed. “The car will be here to pick us up in an hour.” Her hazel eyes, red-rimmed and swollen, focus on the kitchen window. From the looks of it, she’ll start crying again at any second.
Five more drums of her fingers. A sniffle. Then two last beats.
She turns her head slightly in my direction, still refusing to look at me, but I get a clear view of her face. My mother’s always been beautiful, and even with her skin splotchy from crying and her short, chestnut-colored hair uncombed, she’s still stunning in that tragic, ethereal sense. “The car comes in an hour,” she repeats before pushing away from the kitchen table and shuffling away. Even though it never left her mouth, I know the precise word that’s rolling through her mind as I hear her climb the steps and slam her bedroom door.
Selfish.
Maybe she’s right. But maybe, if she’d just looked at me, she would have seen that selfishness is rooted in an even deeper emotion: fear.
I don’t want the last time I see my sister to be … this.
That’s not a memory I think I can deal with and I’m scared to hell of it.
But in the end, my dad stalks into the kitchen and motions for me to follow him. He gives me a gentle nudge toward the staircase with the instructions to get dressed and do it fast. Skin flushed, I find myself in my room. By the time I’m finished there are clothes all over the place and my chest is heaving up and down. I glare at myself in the mirror, at my chocolate brown eyes that are clear because I’ve been too numb to cry.
Eyes like Lily’s.
“You selfish bitch,” I mutter and make myself look away. “You’ve ruined everything.”
On the way to the funeral home, none of us say a word to each other. The closer we get, the more and more I don’t mind the silence. Maybe quietness, solitude, is what I need to make it through today.
I sit on the front row with my parents, unable to cry or breathe or think straight as one-by-one, people who knew my sister—who adored her—tell us how sorry they are. There’s her overachieving snob of a best friend, Kendra. The boy who broke Lily’s heart a year ago, the same one who tried, unsuccessfully, for the last year to win her back. There are teachers and teammates and her closest friends. There’s my own boyfriend, James. When he walks past, he stops for just a moment to give my hand a reassuring squeeze, but I don’t say anything to him.
I don’t trust my words.
*** So I continue to watch in stunned silence. There are so many people here that I don’t know that I barely notice the tall man who stops to talk to my parents. He’s speaking in a hushed voice, but the second, “Owen Delane’s brother” tumbles from his lips, my gaze snaps up. I don’t see very much of him through the sudden haze of tears, but I listen to every word, each one catching my breath.
“…so sorry for what happened. For what this has done to your—”
Before he can finish, my mother—the woman who’s never physically disciplined us a day in our lives, the same woman who hasn’t been able to look me in the eye since the afternoon the officers showed up to our house with the news—is on her feet, her eyes meeting his as she swings her hand roughly across his face.
“What gives you the right to think you can come here?” she demands, shrugging off my dad who stands and tries to take her by the shoulders. “Will it help you sleep better at night? Do you think I care if you or your brother is sorry?” With every word, her volume rises, until she’s practically screaming.
Every emotion that Delane is feeling passes over his tan face, and I can’t help but to feel for him, the brother of the man who killed my sister. Forcing my eyes down long enough for me to catch my breath, I dig my fingers into the pew beneath me. What happened to Lily wasn’t this man’s fault. Surely Mom knows that. But the more I try to reason with myself, the more bitter I feel. ***
When I look back up, Delane’s back is straight and his expression is unreadable. His eyes sweep over me for a brief moment, just long enough for him to give me a solemn nod, and then he turns on his heel and walks away. I know every head inside the funeral home is turned on him, so I look at my mother instead.
My father has pulled her back down to a sitting position, and she buries her face in the crook of his neck, sobbing uncontrollably. Dad looks ahead—quiet and tearless—his gaze pointed on the white casket that’s not even ten feet away from us. And behind us, I know there’s more crying. Hushed whispers because my mom just decked a guy. I can’t hear any of it. There’s a blaring in my ears. A pressure sitting on my chest.
And suddenly, I’m on my feet, my gaze pointed down at my parents. “I’m so sorry,” I whisper, finally breaking my silence.
I don’t fully realize that I’ve left the building until the brisk fall air knocks me in the face. It, combined with the tears that have begun to fall, stings my cheeks. A second after my foot touches the bottom step I feel a hand clamp down on my shoulder. I half-expect it to be my father, but when I spin around, I come face to face with Kendra.
In spite of everything she must be going through herself, her eyebrows are pulled together over her dark brown eyes in concern over me. And I’ve been nothing but a bitch to this girl since she and my sister became friends in middle school. Kendra presses her lips together and then lets out a breath. “Evie … where are you going?”
The sad reality is, I don’t even know. “Oh God, Kendra. I’ve fucked everything up.” Immediately, she wraps her arm around me, drawing a gasp, and a sob, from the back of my throat. I drop my head against her shoulder. “I don’t even have the—”
“Shut up,” Kendra orders in a calm voice as she holds me even tighter. “Shut up and stop trying to do this on your own. You shouldn’t.” She releases me, takes a step back, and braces herself. “I don’t want to do it on my own either, okay?”
For the next ten minutes, she and I sit together on that bottom step. Neither of us says a word, and I’m almost certain neither of us manages more than a few breaths, but she doesn’t leave and I won’t either. Finally, at the sound of Lily’s favorite Regina Spektor song—the one I’d suggested we use for the slideshow—Kendra stands and jerks her head to the front door of the funeral home.
“Hey, Evie?” she whispers tearfully. “We can help each other, okay?”
Nodding, I stumble to my feet, brushing my palms over my skirt to smooth off any dirt. But as I go back inside and take my spot beside my parents, letting a song about not saying goodbye burn into my brain, I can’t help but wonder what Owen Delane’s brother would have said if he’d finished speaking.

The Importance of a Book Review

Image

We love to read. We love to text our bestie or post on Facebook about the fabulous book we just finished. If you're dorky like me, you may text your friends the lines that you like from the book. I have even text a friend, shhh "I'm about to lose my Vcard, go away".  Don't deny it, us book whores are crazy like that.

OMG, I just finished... and can't wait for the next book. Before you jump into the next book on your TBR, take a few minutes and tell your new besties, AMAZON and GOODREADS just how good that book you finished was. Hey, you have time to post on your friends timeline or text her about your CURRENT BOOK BOYFRIEND. Why not chat it up with the sites that the authors rely on to hear how great you thought their book was.

Why, you ask? Well, I figured ask the author's. I did just that. I asked a few of them. I couldn't just write this without sources. Here is what they all pretty much said (and yes I will add the authors to this entry), a review is always a good thing to have. Any review is good. They want your reviews people, and yes even the "bad" ones.  The reviews help the author grow and helps them to see where it is they need improvement. The more reviews we leave the more their books will be suggested. If we take a few minutes to write a review, while the story is still fresh then even better. The author's want to know how the book made you feel. What you thought of the story. This is helpful believe it or not, it is why constructive criticism is welcomed. In regards to constructive criticism; one lady said she welcomes it because it lets her know if her books are going in the right direction for her fans.

I had to get a new authors input. She said that as a newbie, reviews help us as readers by validating the book. The review will help get the word spread and be introduced to more people. The more reviews a book gets the more audience it will get. I agree with her. In my opinion, and I am not a writer, why not help an author continue to live their dream. Most of us have found some amazing authors by accident. Well lets tell everyone about them. Not just our besties via text or FB.

Author's really do look at the reviews you post. One shared that one of her reviews mentioned a formatting problem and she corrected that problem asap. Proof that they want to give us, the reader, what we want. They will go above and beyond to keep their reader pleased and coming back. The more we review them the more we get from them. So, if there are some books you read and really enjoyed and just couldn't put down then please go and leave a review.

What is the author looking for in a review? Your honest feelings. How did you feel about the story? Did you connect with the characters? Were you engaged? It doesn't have to be a long detailed report like when we were in school. Just a few sentences to let the author know what you liked, or didn't and if you would read their work again.

Rating vs Reviews.  I actually did have a conversation with one of the ladies about this.  Many of you have probably seen the star rating at the end of the book. Do you leave one? Those can be helpful too. But with the rating, the writer doesn't know why you gave that rating. They would like to know why. I made a comment, saying why doesn't AMAZON attach a link to reviews at the end of the book. Hey, they do the rating system. Just a thought.

I challenge you to please leave a review. When you finish the current book you are on, show the author love and respect for the work they have done. Put yourself in their shoes. Wouldn't you want someone to do the same for you?

I want to take this opportunity to thank the ladies that were helpful in answering some of my questions. I greatly appreciate it.

Between the Pain...Gia Riley

image

"☆☆☆☆☆"
Five freaking stars!

Gia Riley,  damn. Its 2:00a.m. here in So California and I had to finish the book. Not because I had to review it.. but because I couldn't put it down!

Hallie is a recently graduated nursing student.  She got hired to work at the local hospital's ER. Day one she spots a hottie, was introduced to him as Hallie , RN. His name Ryan.

They work in different departments in the hospital. They bump into each other at a conference.  They literally hit it off. They bump into each other one more time and *boom* they hit it off.

The story is amazing.  Hallie and Ryan's story is a whirlwind romance. It teaches us that love finds us when we aren't looking. We must enjoy the ride and not be afraid to say how we feel. We may regret biting our tongues. Go with the flow. Do what feels right with who makes you comfortable.

Just because we have been burned before, doesn't mean all guys are scum. Some good ones are out there. Be patient they will find you.

Gia, had me sitting here flipping pages. Hallie is hilarious.  I was laughing from the beginning.  Her BFF Alex is wonderful, FYI we all need a gay bestie, just saying.

I can't wait to see where this story goes. I'm hooked and need more. What the heck is Hallie going to do next?

Before I conclude... have tissues handy. You will need them. At one point I was reading peeking through my fingers.

Gia...Congratulations on your baby...Between the Pain.

PIRACY IN E-BOOK WORLD

Image

As a newbie in this BLOG/BOOK REVIEW UNIVERSE, I felt I had to address the issue of PIRACY.  Last week two blogs were caught "stealing" and giving away books to their readers.  The problem with the two that were accused was in the "giveaways" that the sites had going on.

As a blogger on FACEBOOK it is so easy to get caught up in the numbers game. By that I mean "LIKES". In societies standards the more people that LIKE or FOLLOW you the better your page is.  We can get caught up in the "HOW DO I MAKE MY PAGE BETTER", "HOW CAN I BUILD MY AUDIENCE" frame of mind. I am guilty of that. But, I need to sit back and not compare myself to sites that have been around for years. I am trying to focus on giving you the reader what you want or like.  It is not easy to have a page. It can be down right exhausting. But, I try not to give up and keep doing my thing even if it sounds like I'm talking to myself.

How will you know if a GIVEAWAY IS LEGIT AND NOT STOLEN, Well, a blogger should NEVER have your "KINDLE" e-mail address. Never give that out. The awarded item will be delivered to your e-mail and then you can download the "gift" to your KINDLE. Never accept a copy that say ARC on it or doesn't have a cover on it. If you or a friend get a copy as a "gift" please report that.

We are given ARC's to review for you guys not to forward them on as gifts. To hear that this was happening was actually a bit heartbreaking. Imagine you work your butt off to put your words on a page and you re so happy and proud only to have them stolen. How would you feel?

Many of the authors take a chance on sharing their talent with us. They work hard to come up with a story line, to put their imagination on pages so that we can enjoy them. If we are truly fans then we should be able to support the art, the talent and report any wrong doing we may see.

Please keep your beautiful eyes out for anything that looks wrong.

The Vixen and The Vet - Review

Image

*****FIVE STARS*****

This was my first Katy Regnery experience. I wasn't sure what to expect but I LOVED this book.  Two people who are meant to be together, love found. Not letting looks but emotion and feelings guide. BEAUTIFUL.

Made me think of all the men that have come back form Iraq and Afghanistan. Especially all the ones that have become models and grace the covers of many of the books we read.  Something so real brought to life was what had me captivated.

Katy, thanks for sharing Savannah and Asher with us.  Looks forward to more of your books and must catch up with all your work.

GoodReads Review:

Savannah and Asher, captured my attention in this beautifully written book. A book is always hard to gauge at the beginning. It was my first Katy Regnery book and I wasn't sure what to expect. Well, she blew me away. Love finds us. Love leads us. We don't go looking for it. When the connection is real the heart guides you. Not looks not lust. Your heart and that's what this book shows us.

This story will have you wanting more. It's an amazing tale of a brilliant romance between two people who find love and a bond between each other that no one else can fill or find in a life time. Two people find what they never thought was possible, to fill a piece of themselves they thought was lost. It's a love story that will make your eyes water and will squeeze your heart. This story shows love is worth the chance. To push yourself to be happy and for your Once upon a time to your happily ever after.

Katy has become a must read author. She kept me engages. I needed to see what was going to happen. I love books like this. Then add to that Asher's story, well...I felt like I hit the jackpot. Katy is on my 1-click list.

Thanks for sharing Savannah and Asher with us.

I wasn't looking for you #3

You weren't interested. .. I guess I was your decoy. Not sure how I felt about that.

For two days I wondered,  why did he hold my hand? Why did he tell me he wasn't interested in her, but hold my hand? Why didn't I ask him what I needed to know? To say those two days were long is an understatement.

I show up to work hoping you aren't scheduled. I have to act like I'm unaffected.  I don't care. I don't need you... I wasn't looking for you.

I walk in and the first thing I see is blondie who says she's my friend.  She's your ex from what I hear. She greets me with a huge grin. "So, how was the mall", asks blondie. Ugh, her stupid grin pissed me off. I felt like she was laughing at me. She obviously knew about what happened.

I replied with a, it was great we all had fun and got our Secret Santa gifts. Sorry you couldn't be there. Then she said, you know he likes you right? Deer in headlights moment. Excuse me? Mark, he likes you. Umm, no. I think you're wrong. Nope, he's into you but too shy to tell you. "How do you know?", clearly she was mistaken. I had witnessed a girl get a dozen roses from him. That girl was NOT  me, I had never been given a dozen red roses. Sure, he liked me. Sure, he was into me. NOT!!! I know I may look stupid but please, don't play with me.

She answered with, he told me. We all see it, how could you not? "He told you? when?" I kept thinking warm hand and my heart racing. This bimbo is playing me, she has to be. No one likes me. I'm the girl no one notices. I'm the friend of the girls with boyfriends. The girl whose friends tell the parents they are with so they can hangout with their boyfriend. How can HE like me. He's older. He sent what's her face a dozen red roses.

I was pissed about how I felt after the mall. I had been sitting on those feelings for two days and here's blondie telling me her ex likes me. Yeah, I was pissed. She said, he called her after the mall and HE wasn't sure how to tell me. Well, that was what made me blow my lid. With my insecurities and self-esteem issues I KNEW I was being played.

I asked is he here? Yes, downstairs in the break room. Cool thanks. I made my way downstairs found my locker put my purse away and looked around. He was the only person there, the radio was on and his back to the door he hadn't noticed me.  I thought "ok girl, you will not be laughed at, grow a pair and ask him what the hell his issue is". With my ounce of courage I walked inside, turned the radio down. He was eating and reading the paper, why did he have to look intelligent reading the paper.

He looked up when I turned the radio down and smiled. I have no clue what the hell I looked like or did. He spoke first, "hey how you doing?" Good, thanks for asking you? "Everything ok? You look mad." Well, I think I'm okay, but since you asked I feel a bit confused not mad. He wanted to know why I was confused and what was going on. Asked if I needed to talk about home.  I said no, and told him you know at the mall you confused me I was a decoy for your friend, the girl you aren't interested in, right? He didn't say a word just stared. Then I said I'm confused because I walked in here today and blondie is trying very hard to either upset me, confuse me more, or trying to help me. I don't know which.

I looked at him and said "my whole life I have been scared to verbalize what I am thinking. I just do what I am told and fade into the background. I can't be that person today. So today I will be a big girl and ask you one question." He looked scared. I looked at him and just told him that I wasn't sure what the hand holding thing was about at the mall. I said I have only held hands with one other person and he is now an ex-boyfriend. I don't just hold hands with guys. To me when a guy holds your hand it means something.  From what I was just told when I got here, the people we were with made sure to spread the word of your little action.

When I walk in and your ex starts giving me information I didn't need to hear. I swear I think he was going to pass out. He asked what information was I given. I put my hand up. I was going to puke, I was so nervous. I said well, she told me that you called her after you got home from the mall. He went white. So, my question to you and please be honest don't do me any favors either. I ask for honesty. Did you or did you not tell blondie you like me?

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT... NADIA SIMONENKO

I wanted to start something new.  Since, starting the Facebook page and then starting this blog I see how overwhelming this industry is.  By this industry, I mean the Romance Book world.  Seriously, this is a whole new world, cue the Aladdin song.

In the short time that I have been a blogger/reviewer I can see how many author's there are, I'm sure there  are so much more.  Many, get more attention than others. In my opinion I think EVERYONE deserves a fair chance. I have come across some freaking awesome authors that get little to no attention. I feel like I could share some of the AMAZING AUTHOR'S I have stumbled on.

I couldn't tell you how I picked, (now I read for author's, in 6 weeks I have read 1 book for me), the books I read. I guess it depended on my mood.  I guess in one of my moods, I found NADIA SIMONENKO.  I started reading LOST and honestly, I couldn't read fast enough.  Lost introduces us to Maria and Owen. I love books set in college and especially when the characters are broken. Don't ask, I must love drama, lol.  I didn't want the book to end, but eventually it did. Maria and Owen are perfect for each other but they have some serious demons and man did I eat that up.  Yes, you may cry.

Found, picks up right where Lost left us. This book was fantastic. Yes, the demons were addressed, secrets shared and closure. Again, I devoured this book. Maria and Owen are a couple that I fell in love with and at times was able to relate with.  So many personal issues come to light and the importance of addressing them is helpful.

Nadia, has become one of my favorites. I love her style of writing. She kept me engaged and in my opinion draws you into the story.  She is one of my 1-click authors. No questions asked. If her name is on the cover the book is mine.

I invite you to please visit her pages. She is truly a gem and I am so glad that I found her. I want more of Maria and Owen that's how much I loved this series.

Romance books addressing real life issues

Image

Thursday, June 5th I was 'lurking' as my goddaughter calls it, on Facebook.  I came across a the cover you see and the word "FREE" so I clicked on the link and OMG one word caught my attention... AUTISM. I read the synopsis and 1-clicked. Started this book at break time at work and got hooked.  I NEEDED to read this book. I NEEDED to see what the author had to say about AUTISM.  Why would I care you ask... because I am an "AUTISM MOM".  My son was diagnosed when he was three-years old.  Autism has been a staple in our lives for seven long years.

Anytime I see an author write about AUTISM or TYPE 1 DIABETES.  I need to read, why TYPE 1 DIABETES... because hubby and I hit the jackpot with our only child, our 10 year-old son has both. At six-years old we almost lost him due to diabetes, he was falling into a diabetic coma.

So, when I hear a book has something I deal with on a daily basis I am drawn to it.  Joleen James, did an amazing job talking about AUTISM. I had to ask her if she was a mom of a child on the spectrum, she's not she's an educator.  I kid you not I felt like Luke and my son were the same person. My son deals with so many of the issues that Luke did, rocking, noise, sun light. The sensory sensitivity that was mentioned is not exaggerated. It was dead on. Glory, the mom in the book is awesome my hero. They stuff we deal with on a daily basis can be overwhelming but our kid will always come first and I love that she did.

Joleen did an amazing job bringing a disability into the scenario of a romance novel. Honestly, it works. Loved the book and story line.

I stopped reading all books I had for review to read this. I needed to read a book for me and this one was perfect.  I truly recommend it.

I'm attaching my GOODREADS review here also.  Give Joleen a chance she will surprise you. Like her FB page the link is also below.

Christian Romance

wpid-SF_213_Valentine_roses

I am a huge ROMANCE NOVEL fan. In the past months I have taken the time to read some Christian Romance books.  My husband asked if I would read and see what I thought.  I admit I thought, “is he trying to say that I am not a good Christian?” , but to my surprise he talks about my book obsession with his co-workers. I found it amusing.

Last year, we attended a religious conference and was happy to see Nicholas Sparks on the cover of a Magazine. I was like, woo hoo a Catholic Author being spotlighted on a Catholic publication. Of course, I grabbed a few because they were free and people needed to know that he was an amazing author and a man of faith. Yes, I am weird that way.

I enjoy and erotic book like many of us. But, honestly and nice sweet and clean book can be good for some. I get that its not for all but I must be fair and honest and I  truly enjoyed them.

Here you will find some FREE CHRISTIAN ROMANCE BOOKS   I hope some of you will enjoy them.

Until Forever is one of my favorties, it was a bit tough at time (emotionally) but worth the read.

These are only two that I read. I hope you give them a chance.
