Calling California: J.P. Grider

CALLING CALIFORNIA

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!

☆☆☆☆

A Gameboy started it all. Yes...a GAMEBOY.

In this story we meet Calista, aka Cali and Griffin.

Cali's mom works as a waitress and one Christmas Eve when Cali was a little girl, she had to accompany her mom to work. They were at a house so big that Cali said it was bigger than her school. While her mom worked Cali sat quietly in a corner playing with her Gameboy.

A little boy enters the kitchen grabs a cookie and notices her. He falls in love with her CLASSIC Gameboy. He wants to trade his shiny new one for her  CLASSIC one. But...he ends up giving her his shiny new one and never expected her to give hers up.

Fast Forward 13 years and on her first day of college Cali sees a hottie. She's captivated by him. Sadly, he doesn't notice her. While at work Cali gets a customer who doesn't have enough to cover a $23 check. This customer, Griffin is completely taken by the beautiful woman before him.

Next day in class Griffin walks in notices Cali and instant friendship with sparks. He starts calling her California.

Cali thinks that Griffin is as poor as her. But is he?

Cali has a huge problem with money and the people with it. Her family has been burned by the rich and she has developed a complex.

Griffin is absolutely head over heels for our Cali. He finally comes clean and lets her in on the fact he's from money.  She eventually comes to terms with his wealth.

But..this story takes a crazy turn. Oh Em Gee... the plot thickens and we need to know the outcome!

With this new revelation how will Cali react? What will happen to her relationship with Griffin?
She's already having doubts,  she doesn't feel like she belongs in his elite world.  But, then he does these adorable things and says all the right things. Dammit...he has never been been part of WE and he wants to be a WE with ME!!!

Sadly, there is a huge secret and the revelation will either make them stronger or break them.

True love knows no economical class. Poor or rich, the heart wants what the heart wants.  Love has no boundaries and at times we must give in to it. We can't over think everything in life. We have to let the walls crumble some and allow someone in. This person can help us grow and find what we were missing. Prejudice is an ugly thing and it can stop us from truly finding what we want and need.

I want more of our beautiful couple.  Cali and Griffin belong together and J.P. Grider delivers a beautiful story of a girl with trust issues and a boy who has everything money can buy except the girl that he has loved forever.

I highly recommend this book.
