NICOLE EDWARDS: Q & A

There are times we find a book by accident or chance, and we just fall in love with it. Our curiosity is spiked and we want to learn more about the author of the book we found and fell in love with. Who is this author? Where did she come up with these amazing stories?

I fell in love with the Alluring Indulgence Series. Book 1, Kaleb did me in, I was gone and in love with the Walkers. I haven't missed a book from that series, how could I, my inner freak was unleashed by them. With that said, when Romance Bytes started doing spotlights, I knew I had to do a Q & A with this lovely lady. This is what happened...

RB: When did you decide it was time to write and publish a book?

NE: I’ve been writing my entire life. It wasn’t until 2012 that I realized the independent publishing thing was really working so I figured it was time to give it a shot.

RB: Was there someone or something that inspired you to write? If so, who or what?

NE:  I don’t know that there was someone specific. I always loved creative writing in school – all the way back to elementary school. So, I guess I’d have to say that my teachers were the ones who inspired me.

RB: What would you say is the most challenging thing about being a writer?

NE: Honestly, for me the most challenging thing is making sure I spend time with my family. I get so caught up in the characters and the story that I find myself hiding out for long periods of time. Taking time for myself rarely happens, but I do my best to ensure my family knows that I still live with them.

RB: What have you learned about yourself in the writing and creating process?

NE: This is a tough question. I’ve learned so many things. Above all, I’ve learned that I enjoy interacting with the readers. Listening to them, becoming friends with them… it’s the greatest feeling in the world. On the writing front, I’ve learned that asking questions and getting feedback is critical to improving a story.

RB: When you write, do the characters come to you first or does the story?

NE: The characters definitely. Sometimes I know their backstory so that helps with the actual book.

RB: Which of your characters is the loudest and is always making its presence known?

NE:  It has always been Zane Walker. I know it sounds strange, but Zane and I still have conversations. It helps me to talk to him about his brothers.

RB: Girl, or girl! Alluring Indulgence.  You touched on taboo topic and I loved it. Wondering how you decided or what prompted you to create MANLY MEN that are attracted to each other? FYI, Travis is my favorite Walker Boy and I would jump into a threesome with him any day!

NE: My one and only goal when I write a book is to write about love. Love is love, regardless.

RB: Do you have a favorite Walker Boy? Who and Why?

NE:  No, I don’t have a favorite. I love them all for different reasons.

RB: Club Destiny. Tell us how that story came about. So, damn hot. Did you at any point struggle with this story or any of the characters?

NE: Club Destiny was my original series. Logan and Samantha started it all for me. They were even the reason that AI was born. It all ties back to them in some way. Because there are so many books, and so many more in the works, it’s hard to keep up and CD is the main reason I had to start keeping major outlines of each book (including character details)

RB: Do you have a favorite book in this series?

NE: As with all of my series, I love each book for different reasons. So much of me goes into each book, I don’t think I could ever claim only one as a favorite.

RB: Chasing Dreams. OH MY GOODNESS!! Where can I find Cooper? Wait. Where in your mind did that hot ass singer come from? Damn, I was like where is Devil’s Bend and is there a damn short cut.

NE: I’m a big fan of country music and there are so many incredible male singers. Cooper and Tessa just came to me. I don’t know where he came from exactly, but I assume it was tied to something I was listening to at the time.

RB: How do you deal with writers block?

NE: I write more than one book at a time. Sometimes I get stumped on a character/scene/conflict and when I can’t work through it, I go back to another project I’ve started. A lot of times that will jump start my thoughts and I can get things back online.

RB: What was the toughest scene to write?

NE: I don’t know that I can pick a specific scene, but I can tell you that Ethan was the most difficult book for me. His was the most emotional that I’ve written and I felt so close to Ethan. I wanted to do right by him and he took me on a roller coaster ride.

RB: What do fans tell you is the HOTTEST scene you have written?

NE: Well, I’ve heard that the scene at the end of Conviction (Club Destiny, #1) with Logan, Samantha, Luke and Cole was the hottest scene. I happen to love that scene.

RB: What were you doing for work before you wrote your first book?

NE: I was in corporate America – at the same company for 13 years.

RB: Any advice for new authors?

NE: If writing is your passion and you have a story to tell, tell it. Put your heart and your soul into that book and the characters. That’s the only thing you can do.

RB: As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

NE: A nurse like my mother. Then I took anatomy and physiology in college and decided that it wasn’t my thing. And that was when they dissected a frog. I admire all medical professionals, but they have something I don’t.

RB: Will Nicole Edwards and Timberlyn Scott ever collaborate on a book?

NE: Anything is possible.

RB: Where did the idea of Timberlyn Scott come from?

NE: It started with a storyline. I wanted to write Sebastian and Payton’s story and I knew it wasn’t going to be as hot as what I write as Nicole Edwards. I wanted to make sure readers truly understood there was a difference so that I could give the books a chance.

RB: What would you like to tell your fans?

NE: I would like to tell them thank you and that I love them. With my whole heart. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have this opportunity. I couldn’t do it without their continued support and love.
