Lyric steps away and laughs before walking over and stopping in front of me. She looks up into my eyes and licks her bottom lip. Her whole body is glistening with sweat now, and all I can think about is tasting every inch of her. “Dance with me, Memphis.”
I pull my eyes away from her lips and flex my jaw. As much as I want to put my hands all over, I need to fight it, but this fucking liquor isn’t doing much to help it.
“No, Lyric.”
She takes a step closer and runs her tiny, soft hand down my arm. “Just once. It’s not even a big deal. It’s just a dance. It’s not like I’m asking you to fuck me. I’m asking you to touch me.”
“You want me to touch you,” I growl. I roughly slide my hands over her hips before gripping her waist and slamming her up against the wall. Leaning in, I fist her hair in my hand and whisper in her ear. “Is this how you want me to touch you? Touching someone that I know always leads to them getting hurt.” I grip her waist tighter and press my body flush with hers. Her body trembles against mine and her breathing picks up as my bottom lip brushes over her ear. “I’m fucking tainted, Lyric. Running now would be your best option.”
She looks up into my eyes and wets her lips, fighting to catch her breath. “I. Want. You. To. Touch. Me. I’m not running anywhere.”

Memphis is a fighter in every sense just in the make shift ring but in every aspect of his life throws at him.
He returns to Crooked Creek to find the one person who means the world to him... his brother Alex the one family he has left. He returns to Crooked Creek with a major sense of guilt for having abandoned his little brother and mother.
He feels unworthy of feeling any kind of closeness to someone. He believes himself to be a monster and has to fight against every instinct with in him to Stay away from the one girl who has forced her way into his life.
Lyric is a sexy strong girl with a smart ass mouth. She works at a Tattoo Shop at Crooked Creek as a piercing specialist. Lyris moved to Crooked Creek following her father who in hopes of building a relationship. But like always her plan fails. Instead she sees her father for what he really is a monster.
One evening Lyric looks out her window only to find the sexy and brooding Memphis arriving next door. When their eyes meet for the first ime they can't help but hold each others stare from that moment a connection that is irresistible to both is made.
Mephis tries hard to push Lyric away. But Lyric is not one to back down so easily. The more she gets to know Memphis the more she is determined to show him how much deaerves and how beautiful he is inside and out.
But Memephis refuses to cave and let Lyric in... but without realizing it she wormed her way in and determined to make him see how valuable he rally is.
I love the is story Victoria Ashley created 2 check characters that complete each other in every way along with a beautiful story. I fell inlove with Memphis and his broody ways but also with his caring and beautiful heart. Victoria I can't wait to read more from this Series!
